Revitalization on the Horizon: Windstar Cruises’ Wind Surf Transformation

This November, Windstar Cruises will commence a new chapter for its flagship sailing vessel, the Wind Surf, as it undergoes an extensive refurbishment in Cadiz, Spain. Set to unveil the newly renovated ship on December 21, the cruise line promises a revitalized experience that enhances both guest accommodations and public areas. This initiative aims to capture the allure of upscale destinations such as The Broadmoor in Colorado and Sea Island in Georgia, both owned by the Anschutz family, the same group behind Windstar Cruises.

One of the standout features of the renovation is the rebranding of the existing Officer’s Suite to the Owner’s Suite. This exclusive accommodation, positioned near the officer’s quarters, is set to showcase a refined nautical aesthetic, offering travelers a touch of luxury directly inspired by high-end resorts. Such changes underscore Windstar’s commitment to creating an intimate yet sophisticated atmosphere on board, catering to travelers seeking more than just a means of transportation, but rather a lavish voyage.

Significant attention is also being dedicated to the culinary spaces aboard the Wind Surf, particularly the main dining room, Amphora. The revamped restaurant will feature a new design that draws inspiration from maritime elements, with decor reflecting the beauty of the ocean through choices like smooth stones and shimmering sea glass. Complementing this, a vibrant color palette inspired by sunset hues will characterize the new furnishing and ambiance, establishing an inviting atmosphere for diners.

Furthermore, the Compass Rose restaurant is set to receive its own makeover with modern decor accentuated by lively touches of blue and orange. The introduction of a multipurpose stage for live music will undoubtedly enrich the dining experience for passengers, creating an engaging blend of culinary and entertainment offerings that align with contemporary expectations.

Beyond dining enhancements, Windstar Cruises aims to transform various public spaces, including the ship’s lobby and retail areas. Guests can look forward to a lobby designed to promote comfort and accessibility, equipped with additional seating options that cultivate a welcoming environment. The revised retail space promises an upscale shopping experience reminiscent of luxury brand stores, indicative of the cruise line’s aspiration to offer premium amenities onboard.

The pool deck will embrace a natural palette that pays tribute to beach environments, featuring new waves-inspired tiling for both whirlpools. This attention to detail aligns with Windstar’s objective to create a cohesive maritime atmosphere throughout the ship, ensuring that passengers enjoy both relaxation and luxury.

The transformation of the Wind Surf is part of a broader multiyear initiative involving all three Wind-class ships—Wind Surf, Wind Star, and Wind Spirit. As the Wind Star recently completed its first phase of renovations, the focus will soon shift to further improvements, including updates to staterooms and amenities. With the second phase of Wind Surf’s renovations scheduled for completion by December 2026, Windstar Cruises is poised to redefine luxury sailing, setting new standards in guest experiences at sea.
