Michelin Guide Florida: A Culinary Journey

The announcement of the 2024 MICHELIN Guide for Miami, Orlando, and Tampa brought with it the recognition of nine new restaurants in the region. With this latest update, Florida now boasts a total of 26 Michelin-starred restaurants. Leading the pack with two stars is L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon Miami. According to Gwendal Poullennec, the International Director of the MICHELIN Guides, the arrival of the MICHELIN Guide to Florida in 2022 has sparked significant growth in the local culinary scene, solidifying Florida as a top gastronomic destination for travelers worldwide. In addition to the new Michelin-starred restaurants, the guide also introduced Green Star restaurants in the selection for the first time, highlighting their dedication to sustainable gastronomy.

Among the new additions to the list are two Tampa restaurants, Ebbe and Kosen, as well as three Miami eateries – EntreNos, Ogawa, and Shingo. In Orlando, Camille, Natsu, Papa Llama, and Victoria and Albert’s have also been awarded stars. Notably, Victoria and Albert’s, located at Disney World within the Grand Floridian Resort, stands out with its opulent, Victorian-era inspired dining experience. The pre-fixe meal at Victoria and Albert’s costs $295 per guest, with optional wine pairings starting at $155 per person and zero-proof pairings starting at $115. The restaurant maintains a formal dress code and welcomes diners aged 10 and above.

Recognition and Honor

Chef de Cuisine Matthew Sowers expressed his gratitude for the recognition bestowed upon Victoria and Albert’s by Michelin. He attributes the Michelin star to the collective effort of the entire team, from stewards to culinarians to pastry chefs. Chef Sowers’ culinary style, described as having a “contemporary verve” drawing influences from Asia to the Nordic region, was particularly commended by Michelin inspectors. Dishes such as delicate tarts with New Zealand langoustine, venison carpaccio sandwiches, and cherry-cola bordelaise sauces showcased Chef Sowers’ innovative approach to cuisine. The restaurant’s water lists, ornate coffee and tea service, and impressive wine program further solidified its reputation and earned it the prestigious Michelin star.

Victoria and Albert’s has been a culinary landmark at Disney World since its opening in 1988, receiving numerous accolades and recognition over the years. The addition of a Michelin star adds another feather to its cap, further solidifying its status as a destination for fine dining enthusiasts. With a commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainability, Victoria and Albert’s continues to set the bar high for culinary experiences in Florida and beyond.
