Revolutionizing Airline Booking with Turkish Airlines’ New Distribution Capability Platform

Turkish Airlines is set to introduce a groundbreaking New Distribution Capability platform called TKConnect on October 1. This move marks a significant shift in the way the airline interacts with travel agents and passengers. According to the carrier’s chief commercial officer, Ahmet Olmustur, TKConnect is designed to offer advanced technology in a user-friendly manner, revolutionizing the booking process for agents and travelers alike.

The Features of TKConnect

One of the key features of TKConnect is the availability of promotional fares exclusively through the NDC platform. Additionally, the platform will offer “rich content” with detailed visuals and descriptions, as well as differentiated ticket pricing and enhanced ancillary services. This comprehensive approach aims to provide a more personalized and seamless booking experience for users.

Turkish Airlines is providing three main connection options for agents to access the TKConnect platform. These include a direct connection via NDC APIs, an aggregator connection through certified technology partners (which were not disclosed in the announcement), and a web-based booking portal. This diverse range of options demonstrates the airline’s commitment to accommodating different agent preferences and technical capabilities.

Starting October 1, Turkish Airlines will implement a distribution fee for bookings made through global distribution systems (GDS). While the exact surcharge amount has not been specified yet, the carrier made it clear that its new content and promotional fares will only be accessible through TKConnect. Despite the introduction of the distribution fee, agents will still have access to legacy content via GDS bookings. However, the emphasis is on encouraging agents to transition to the new platform for an enhanced booking experience.

No Fees for Services via TKConnect

In an effort to promote the use of TKConnect, Turkish Airlines has assured agents that there will be no fees associated with services accessed through the platform. This commitment to a fee-free experience highlights the airline’s dedication to fostering a positive relationship with its agent partners and prioritizing a seamless booking process.

Turkish Airlines’ launch of the TKConnect platform represents a bold step towards modernizing the airline booking experience. By providing innovative features, personalized content, and connection options, the airline is setting a new standard for industry excellence. As the travel landscape continues to evolve, Turkish Airlines is at the forefront of embracing change and enhancing the agent-passenger dynamic.
