The St. Regis Punta Mita: A Classic Renovation

The St. Regis Punta Mita holds a special place in the hearts of luxury travelers with its classic charm and remote tropical retreat ambiance. Situated on 22 acres of Pacific oceanfront, the resort offers breathtaking views of the famous Islas Marietas. Its bungalow-style suites, lush pathways, and elegant hacienda-style buildings create a Mexican beachfront village atmosphere that feels like a true escape from reality. Despite its secluded feel, the resort is conveniently located just a 35-minute drive from Puerto Vallarta’s airport and a 10-minute drive from the village of Punta de Mita.

In celebration of its 15th anniversary, the St. Regis Punta Mita underwent a $45 million propertywide renovation to keep up with Mexico’s ever-evolving luxury landscape. All 120 guestrooms and suites at the resort were redesigned with a modern, neutral color palette, featuring blonde woods, cream-colored linens, and furniture. The rustic Mexican vibe is preserved with terracotta tile floors and exposed wooden beams in the ceiling, providing a warm and inviting atmosphere for guests. The crown jewel of the renovation is the introduction of five new residential-style beachfront villas, each with an outdoor terrace and personal pool.

With wellness becoming a crucial aspect of travel experiences, the St. Regis Spa at Punta Mita has been elevated to include holistic treatments, traditional therapies, and indigenous rituals. The spa now offers a temazcal, a traditional sweat lodge experience with a local shaman. The newly added Couples Spa Suite features a private plunge pool, outdoor shower, and lounge seating, providing guests with a luxurious and relaxing retreat. The resort’s dual-level infinity pool, the Marietas Pool, offers stunning views of the Islas Marietas National Park and is surrounded by loungers, daybeds, and cabanas for ultimate relaxation.

The St. Regis Punta Mita has also raised the bar on its culinary offerings, with five culinary experiences overseen by Executive Chef Pablo Arias. The resort introduced new restaurants and a renovated lobby bar to enhance the dining experience for guests. One highlight is the reimagined Mita Mary restaurant, known for its fresh seafood dishes and oceanfront dining setting. Guests can also enjoy Nikkei cuisine at the adults-only pool, as well as Mexican and international dishes at Las Marietas Restaurant & Bar. The signature fine dining restaurant, Carolina, remains a fixture at the resort, offering a memorable culinary experience.

Keeping True to Tradition

Amidst the constant expansion and development in Riviera Nayarit, the St. Regis Punta Mita has managed to stay true to its roots while evolving to meet the changing demands of luxury travelers. The resort’s Culinary Collection features chef-driven experiences and collaborations with Michelin-starred chefs from around the world, offering a unique dining experience for guests. With its timeless charm, modern renovations, and commitment to excellence, the St. Regis Punta Mita continues to be a beacon of luxury in the ever-evolving landscape of Mexico’s luxe destinations.
