Coco Palms Resort on Kauai to be Kimpton’s First Property in Hawaii

The Coco Palms Resort on Kauai is set to become the first property in Hawaii for Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, the luxury lifestyle brand under IHG Hotels & Resorts. This announcement was made by Leanne Harwood, IHG’s senior vice president and managing director for luxury and lifestyle in the Americas, highlighting the excitement surrounding this new venture.

Historic Significance

The original Coco Palms was a renowned destination during the golden era of Hollywood, hosting iconic guests such as Elvis Presley, Rita Hayworth, and Gene Autry. However, it ceased operations in 1992 after sustaining significant damage from Hurricane Iniki. Now, with Reef Capital Partners taking ownership and investing over $400 million in its redevelopment, the new Coco Palms is set to open its doors in 2026.

Situated in the picturesque valley of Wailua along Kauai’s shoreline, Coco Palms will offer 350 accommodations spread across three low-rise hotel structures and cottages. The resort aims to provide guests with unique and culturally respectful experiences, blending relaxation and discovery in an inspiring boutique luxury setting.

As part of the Kimpton brand, Coco Palms will feature exclusive perks such as the Kimpton Kickstart morning coffee and tea service, Kimpton Social evenings, the “Forgot It? We’ve Got It!” program, in-room yoga mats, and pet-friendly policies. These amenities add to the allure of the resort and enhance the overall guest experience.

With the addition of Coco Palms, Kimpton continues to grow its portfolio of luxury resorts around the world. From the Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa in Grand Cayman to properties in Mexico, Spain, Thailand, and Honduras, Kimpton is solidifying its presence in key destinations known for their beauty and cultural richness.

The redevelopment of Coco Palms Resort on Kauai as a Kimpton property marks an exciting chapter for both the brand and Hawaii’s hospitality industry. With a focus on luxury, culture, and sustainability, Coco Palms is poised to become a premier destination for travelers seeking a unique and immersive experience on the island of Kauai.
