Disney to Launch Cruises from Japan in 2029

Disney has recently announced its plans to launch cruises from Japan in 2029, with the introduction of a newbuild sister ship to the Disney Wish. This new ship, operated by the Oriental Land Co., will be based in Japan and will offer unique sailings tailored to both residents and visitors to the country.

The ship, which is yet to be named, will be constructed by the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. The design of the ship will be spearheaded by Walt Disney Imagineering, ensuring that it incorporates the signature Disney magic and storytelling elements. With a projected size of about 140,000 gross tons and featuring 1,250 cabins, the new ship is set to provide guests with a luxurious and immersive experience.

In line with their commitment to providing exceptional experiences, Disney has stated that the new ship will include many venues and experiences from the Disney Wish. Moreover, certain modifications will be made to cater specifically to Japanese guests, ensuring that their cultural preferences and tastes are taken into consideration.

Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Experiences, expressed his enthusiasm for the company’s ambitious plans for expansion. He highlighted Disney’s dedication to bringing family vacations and storytelling to a global audience, stating, “We are thrilled to continue the success of this expansion as we collaborate with Oriental Land Co.”
