Sandals Resorts International recently announced plans to convert the well-established Sandals Emerald Bay resort in the Bahamas into the new Beaches Exuma. This transformation is set to take place after the closure of Sandals Emerald Bay on August 15, with renovations expected to commence in the upcoming fall season. While an exact reopening date for the Beaches Exuma has not yet been disclosed, guests with existing reservations at Sandals Emerald Bay are currently being contacted regarding these changes.
The Beaches Exuma is expected to feature a range of updated accommodations, including reconfigured multi-bedroom villas, suites, and connecting rooms. Additionally, the resort will offer upgraded food and beverage options to cater to families vacationing on the property. Family-oriented amenities such as a new Kids Camp, splash deck, and other play areas will also be introduced to enhance the overall experience for guests. Despite these changes, Sandals has confirmed that its renowned Red Lane Spa and Greg Norman-designed 18-hole golf course will remain part of the resort’s offerings.
In a statement, Sandals Resorts International’s executive chairman Adam Stewart expressed excitement about the conversion of the Sandals Emerald Bay to Beaches Exuma. Stewart emphasized that Exuma is a destination “made for families,” highlighting the resort’s 6,000 feet of shoreline as a key attraction for guests. This extensive beachfront area is described as a “gateway to discovering the incomparable beauty of this part of the Bahamas,” making it an ideal location for families looking to create lasting memories.
A Growing Beaches Portfolio
The Beaches Exuma will join the existing Beaches portfolio as the fourth all-inclusive resort under the Beaches brand. Other Beaches resorts include Beaches Negril and Beaches Ocho Rios in Jamaica, as well as Beaches Turks & Caicos. By expanding its footprint to the Bahamas, Beaches Resorts International aims to provide families with even more options for luxurious, all-inclusive getaways in stunning beachfront locations.
The transformation of Sandals Emerald Bay into Beaches Exuma represents an exciting development in the world of all-inclusive family resorts. With enhanced accommodations, amenities, and a focus on family-friendly experiences, the Beaches Exuma is poised to become a top choice for families looking to enjoy a tropical getaway in the Bahamas.
