Fiji Airways, a South Pacific airline serving 26 destinations in 15 countries and territories, has achieved a major milestone by becoming a full member of the Oneworld alliance. This move comes after the airline has been a member of the Oneworld Connect affiliate program since 2018. The integration work to transition Fiji Airways to full membership is expected to be completed within a year.
With this new status, passengers flying with Fiji Airways can expect enhanced benefits such as priority check-in, priority boarding, and lounge access for elite members of all Oneworld airlines. Previously, as a Oneworld Connect member, passengers with Oneworld Emerald, Sapphire, or Ruby status already enjoyed some of these privileges, including access to Fiji’s lounge in its hub airport of Nadi.
In addition to the benefits for passengers, Fiji Airways also enjoys loyalty program partnerships and interline check-in and baggage partnerships with its four Oneworld sponsor airlines: American, Qantas, British Airways, and Cathay Pacific. As a full member of the alliance, these partnerships and collaborations will be further strengthened, benefiting both the airline and its passengers.
Expanding the Oneworld Alliance
The Oneworld alliance, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, currently has 13 full members. With Fiji Airways joining as the 15th full member upon completion of the integration process, the alliance continues to grow and expand its global reach. In addition to its membership in the Oneworld alliance, Fiji Airways also maintains codeshare partnerships with Oneworld members American and Alaska.
