The 2024 World Airline Awards: Qatar Airways Takes the Top Spot

Qatar Airways has once again solidified its reputation as one of the best airlines in the world by winning the prestigious title of the world’s best airline at the Skytrax’s 2024 World Airline Awards. This marks the eighth time that Qatar Airways has received this esteemed honor in the 25-year history of the awards.

Not only did Qatar Airways secure the top spot as the world’s best airline, but it also clinched the titles of world’s best business class, world’s best business class lounge, and best airline in the Middle East. This impressive feat showcases Qatar Airways’ commitment to excellence in every aspect of their service.

Last year’s winner for best airline, Singapore Airlines, had to settle for the second spot in the 2024 rankings. Emirates claimed the third position, followed by All Nippon Airways in fourth place and Cathay Pacific in fifth place. With over 350 airlines included in the survey results, the competition was fierce, making Qatar Airways’ victory even more remarkable.

Among the U.S. carriers, Delta emerged as the top performer, securing the 21st spot for the world’s best airline. Other American airlines that made it to the top 100 include United (42), Alaska (60), JetBlue (65), American (78), Allegiant (82), Sun Country (86), Breeze (91), Southwest (93), and Hawaiian (99). Delta also received accolades for best airline in North America, best business class in North America, and best economy class in North America.

Noteworthy mentions from the survey include Saudi Arabian Airlines winning the title of world’s most improved airline, surpassing Starlux and Play, which secured the second and third positions, respectively. Allegiant Air also saw a significant improvement, jumping from 121st place last year to 82nd place this year. Allegiant Air was recognized as the best low-cost airline in North America and the most improved U.S. airline.

The Skytrax survey, conducted from September 2023 to May 2024, included feedback from over 100 customer nationalities, highlighting the global significance of the awards. Qatar Airways’ continued success and the recognition of other airlines for their improvements and achievements demonstrate the ongoing pursuit of excellence in the aviation industry.
