The Beauty of the Ilma: A Maltese-Inspired Yacht Experience

The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection has unveiled its second ship, the Ilma, drawing design inspiration from Maltese mythology, coastlines, history, and native fauna. Named after the Maltese word for “water,” the Ilma promises a unique and luxurious experience for its passengers.

Ship Features

The Ilma will be a significant upgrade from its predecessor, the Evrima, boasting a length of 790 feet and accommodating 448 passengers, compared to the Evrima’s 624-foot length and 298-passenger capacity. One of the standout features of the Ilma is the introduction of the Beach House, a restaurant showcasing Peruvian and Pan-Latin cuisine, as well as craft cocktails. Designed by Chapi Chapo Designs, the venue aims to provide a serene coastal atmosphere with stunning 180-degree views.

The onboard spa on the Ilma will offer 11 treatment rooms, with five specifically equipped for outdoor treatments. Additionally, passengers can enjoy three distinct fitness spaces – a Movement Studio, Cycle Studio, and Fitness Studio. With a total of five dining venues, seven bars, and a wine vault, guests will have plenty of options for indulging in culinary delights and beverages.

The interior design of the Ilma focuses on incorporating neutral tones complemented by light and dark finishes. Communal areas are intentionally designed to be intimate, fostering connections among passengers. AD Associates and DPA have collaborated on the interior finishes, while Aivan design studio is responsible for the exterior design, creating a seamless integration of spaces that cultivates a deep connection to the sea.

Each suite on the Ilma will feature floor-to-ceiling windows and a private terrace, allowing guests to enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding waters. The design of the suites will juxtapose rich textures, warm lighting, and delicate hues, creating a sense of luxury and comfort. Furthermore, the Ilma will enhance the Marina and Marina Terrace experience with large Panasonic glass windows, floating side doors, and a hydraulic platform.

The Ilma’s inaugural cruise is set to depart from Monte Carlo on September 2nd, with an exciting journey culminating in Civitavecchia, the port for Rome. Passengers can look forward to an unforgettable experience aboard this stunning yacht, where Maltese inspiration meets luxury travel at its finest.
