The Future of Royal Caribbean Group in the Galapagos Islands

Royal Caribbean Group is looking to expand its presence in the Galapagos Islands despite selling two older ships, the Celebrity Xpedition and Celebrity Xploration. CEO Jason Liberty made this announcement while attending the christening of Silversea Cruises’ new luxury ship, the Silver Ray. The company currently operates two newer ships in the Galapagos: the Silver Origin and Celebrity Flora, both of which were built for Celebrity and Silversea respectively.

With maximum guest capacities of 100, the Silver Origin and Celebrity Flora have been met with “exceptionally high” satisfaction levels, according to Liberty. These ships were designed with the quality and brand connection in mind, unlike the older Xpedition and Xploration vessels that were acquired by Celebrity Cruises. Liberty praised the unique experience of cruising in the Galapagos, calling it one of the best vacation experiences he has ever had.

A Successful Product

The popularity of the Flora and Origin is evident in their consistent full capacity and positive feedback from guests. Liberty referred to these ships as “floating jewels” that provide access to incredible destinations in the Galapagos. He emphasized that Royal Caribbean Group offers the best cruise product in the region, setting a high standard for quality and experience.

Innovative Approach

While the decision to sell the older ships may seem like a step back, Royal Caribbean Group’s focus on expanding its presence and investing in newer, brand-connected vessels demonstrates an innovative approach to cruising in the Galapagos. By prioritizing guest satisfaction and offering a unique and high-quality experience, the company aims to solidify its position as a leader in the region.

As Royal Caribbean Group moves forward with its plans to enhance its presence in the Galapagos, it remains committed to providing guests with unforgettable experiences in this unique and protected space. With a reputation for excellence and a focus on customer satisfaction, the company is poised to continue its success in the region and set new standards for luxury cruising experiences.
